Most publishing firms really don’t know what to do with some stuff some writers deliver. If it doesn’t fit in a format-it’s the age of Formats, in case you don’t know yet-or if it is not quite the style of the house or when they don’t directly seem to see a public for it, they simply don’t publish it.
So, let me give you one advice if you want to find a publisher, especially here in the Lowlands : don’t write stuff that is too weird nor too experimental or too difficult. Unless you find a Mecenas who doesn’t want no sexual favoures in return (or maybe, that’s just what you’re looking for; in such case, take James Joyce’s Ullyses, adapt it and off you go with that Mecenasthing, eyes wide shut).
Only when you are very lucky a publisher with guts or capable of reading the sign o’ the times without glasses, it ‘s bull’s-eye. I had that kind of luck with my youth novels. I’m not that lucky with my adult stuff, yet. But as Tom Petty sings ‘the waiting is the hardest part’ and as good ole Ray Davies sneers ‘I’m tired of waiting’ !
I decided to deliver my adult works to the public and fans myself. No, I won’t ring your bell once or twice (not being an oversexed postman or milkman), well, in some cases, when you are between 18 and 55, good looking, intelligent, generous, lonely, hot and above all female, I’ll jump in my car and deliver in person, being a handsome, young, smart and hot guy indeed.
